Program force closing on open

  • Product: WRobot General
  • Type: Bug
  • Status: Unconfirmed

Getting this issue on multiple machines and also on a fresh new download of wrobot as well. If I click on the exe to launch it just flashes the windows quick and closes but if I keep clicking it eventually it will stay open sometimes 7 or 8 times. I've gone through the troubleshooting/repair posts and have all my redistributable installed, slim dx, regular dx. I'm not quite sure what the issue is but if you let me know what logs I can provide will do.

Logs don't show much but also attaching a small snip video to illustrate whats happening. Ive tried a clean download and installation with as well and it still happens but it maybe seems related to the WoTLK build of the bot. Tried a clean install on another laptop as well and same result, sometimes it opens and sometimes it just crashes several times in a row.

Hello,

The bot doesn't really crash, it closes itself when it can't reach the WRobot servers during startup. That's why your logs stop right after the version line without any error.

Since it happens on several machines, it's probably your antivirus or something on your network blocking the connection from time to time. Can you try:

1. Add the WRobot folder to your antivirus exclusions (Windows Defender and any other antivirus you use), then try again.

2. Check that https://download.wrobot.eu/wrobotwotlk/isOnline.php opens in your browser on the same machine (it should just show "true").

3. If you use a VPN or proxy, try without it. You can also try changing your DNS to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.

Do you have the same problem with the other WRobot versions on these machines, or only WotLK?
