I have tried a few different gather profiles and the pathing is great and all.

 

But why does my character keep specifically going after monsters? Neutral monsters too. He will run straight to one and start killing it. Thanks!

I have fiddled with the program and turned off Attack before being attacked as well as Ignore fights while traveling... still nothing

Did you also turn off "Dont Start Fighting" option under train new skills in the general settings?

Maybe the gathering profile has a specific mob listed for kill ?
