Bot gets "stuck" before running into melee range

This is with no obstacles between the character and the npc.

Happens regardless of fight class or profile (tested quester and automaton), with or without plugins. Is there any fix to this melee issue? The bot always targets the mob, stops and faces it for a second or two, and often does the unstuck routine, which looks super botlike of course, before finally running into melee range and starting its rotation.

Messing around with pathfinder settings (even turning it off) does not fix the problem.
