No matter what I do - whatever profile I use, or create myself - I CANNOT get it to use auto shot in the rotation!

Hello, you don't need to add auto shoot in your fightclass (it is managed by wrobot). Look this sample (for low level): hunter.xml

that profile you linked just repeatedly casts serpent sting and nothing else

using that profile I have the same exact issue: not using autoshot at all.

 

I've tweaked every hunter profile on here and I can't get auto shot to work, it just waits for arcane shot cooldown and sits there.

and is there any way to make the bot backpedal on the hunter when he's too close to a mob? currently it just tries to use disengage.. and if it's on cooldown it just looks very obvious that you're botting because you stand there in melee range

It really will not auto shot on my hunter.

Just stands there waiting to arcane shot on cooldown

For auto attack, try to reset your wow settings, auto attack works fine for me. 

Disengage is the best way to avoid melee, you can also use lua code to move like this http://wrobot.eu/forums/topic/1118-snippets-of-lua-codes-for-fightclass/?do=findComment&comment=11416 but it is more safe to use disengage.

Auto attack is on in the WoW interface

I'm changed settings 100 times on the fight config and nothing is working without either a. not auto shotting at all or b. ONLY autoshotting without using any other skills

Works fine for me: 2016-02-08_18-41-37.mp4 

 

If someone get the same problem it does not hesitate to report it.
